Lincoln Park
Group Home was constructed in 1987 in West Seattle. The home has rooms for
eight residents and is licensed as an ICF/MR
(Intermediate Care Facility for the Mentally Retarded), designated to serve
persons with more severe disabilities than at our other two group homes. Extra
staffing is provided around the clock and special therapists and consultants are
available. The facility has a large family room adjacent to the kitchen and
utility area, and a separate living room. The home comes equipped with staff
office space, a conference room and a large deck, used frequently for group
activities with residents of the other group homes and for membership
get-togethers. The residents participate in day programs at other agencies and
workshops. In addition to the day programs residents participate in recreational
activities such as swimming, bowling, special events in the community and family
activities.
A Trivia Tidbit...
Lincoln Park Group
Home is actually owned by a separate corporation called Lawton
Heights Group Home! Various requirements at the time dictated that a separate
corporation be created to qualify it for the government funding needed to start
this project. Lawton Heights Group Home is a "controlled Affiliate" of
United Friends and is governed by the same Board
of Directors. The name "Lawton Heights" is derived from the original
neighborhood planned for the group home. After the corporation was formed, the
original property became unavailable and the location changed to the Lincoln
Park neighborhood.
